Your SmartWatch future could be a tattoo away!

While we are all busy complaining about smartwatches be too thick and Apple talking about killing 3.5mm to its thinnest iPhone, researchers at the University of Tokyo developed a PLED 3 micron layer.

The PLED is an optoelectronic skin layer incorporating organic photodetectors. Currently, PLEDs (polymer organic light emitting diode) need to be attached to a thin film before joining, but Engadget reports that LEDs themselves are thin enough to resemble tattoos. The report adds that the LEDs, despite being so thin, are sturdy enough not to break when flexed.

The PLED can display RGB colors as well as white. They can be mounted in any configuration and may, for example, change color to indicate the power levels, measure oxygen levels in the blood and more. The possibilities are indeed endless.

Forget smartwatches and telephones, his body could become a display stand IOT. We wonder what the future of advertising would be in such a scenario. Ad-Block Plus, editing human body?
