Samsung attention to expand in the US online shopping 2016

Samsung Electronics Co. plans to expand its mobile payment service in the making in the United States next year, allowing users to shop online and more smartphones that support the electronic purse.

Low price phones Samsung is likely to start offering mobile wallet "in the next year," said Thomas Ko, co-general manager of global payment Samsung, he said in an interview. The service debuted in Korea in just a handful of high-end Samsung phones, including the Galaxy Note 5, the edge of the S6, S6 Galaxy Galaxy, and S6 Edge Plus.

Broader "availability payment terminals Samsung and online payment support is coming soon," he said last week.

He did not comment on other countries to expand Samsung payment.

Pay Samsung has already scored an advantage over its main rivals Apple and Android, with the launch of its service in the United States on 28 September with the technology that is widely used in most stores. Apple Inc Alphabet payment and payment Android require retailers to install new equipment.

By accepting online payments, Payment Samsung compete with established rival PayPal Holdings Inc, as well as newcomers such as Visa Inc. Visa Checkout.

Mobile wallets have struggled to find favor in the United States, which has also been in Europe and Asia slow to adopt technologies such as credit cards embedded with microchips.

Samsung Pay is already the mobile wallet greater acceptance in the United States because it is compatible with new terminals and major credit card and require no special arrangements with retailers, Ko said. For example, buyers from Wal-Mart Stores Inc and Target Corp can pay by simply waving their smartphones with the app.

By contrast, Apple pay, launched in September 2014, requires retailers to install new equipment that supports near field communication (NFC) compatible with its service, which has hindered the broader acceptance, aides said.

"For Samsung, moving in line could be a smart move," James Wester, director of research, global payments, IDC Financial Insights, said. "It will help create the habit of customer that can benefit from that when US consumers transact in stores."

While Samsung Pay is the most widely accepted mobile wallet, customer adoption remains an obstacle, as many buyers find not worth the trouble to use the service when swiping a credit card is just as easy, he said.

Pay Samsung had an average of eight transactions per user United States within the first four weeks of its release, the company said in October.
