Mumbai suburban rail passenger mobile application to get ticket
A new mobile ticketing application will now facilitate smooth travel for 7.5 million daily rail passengers in suburban Mumbai.
The mobile system paperless tickets will be available at the commuter rail system west between Churchgate and Dahanu road today, a high-level railway said.
The application will initially be available for Android and Windows Phone, but soon spread to other platforms, including iOS, he said.
Mobile ticketing application has been launched with the aim of offering seamless travel to 7.5 million passengers daily suburban and installation is the result of efforts by the railway officials who wanted to bring in the use of technology said the Western Railway (WR) official.
"To make use of the facility, users will have to download the latest version of UTS (unreserved Ticketing System) mobile ticket app from Google Play first. Those who have already downloaded the application only need to update it," he said.
Briefing on the operation of the application, the official said users after downloading the UTS application must not wait in line or visit automatic ticket vending machine (ATVM) kiosk stations for the ticket and will be backed electronics of the available smartphones.
He said the transaction will be made through I-wallet payment system unreserved ticket booking via mobile phones.
Meanwhile, Central Railway officials said they can start the service by 15 August this year after seeing the response of WR travelers.
