Facebook Is Going To work To Get You High-Speed Internet On Laser Technology Via Drones
Facebook platform, the world's largest social network, is working on laser technology to provide high-speed Internet through drones or satellites.
"Our Connectivity Lab is developing a laser communications system that can transmit data from the sky in communities. This will dramatically increase the speed of data transmission over long distances," said Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and today in its social networking page.
The California-based company has been working on developing technology to use drones and satellites to provide Internet to people. It has also approached the Government of India in the past to carry out pilot projects in the country.
"As part of our efforts Internet.org, we are working on ways to use drones and satellites to connect the billion people who live in the range of existing wireless networks. Normally you would not be able to see the actual beams "said billionaire investor technology.
Facebook had started Internet.org in partnership with telecom operators in select markets. In the village of projects in developing countries including India, you can access some sites without having to pay for mobile Internet charges.
Facebook, which owns the mobile messaging application WhatsApp, is among the over-the-top (OTT) players providing calls and messaging services.
Telecom operators have been on the warpath against OTT players and claim that their services are eating their core income is detrimental to the development of telecommunications infrastructure necessary for the provision of internet services.
Communication technology can help alternative OTT players bypass traditional telecommunications operators.
"This is just a connectivity project that we are working, but I was very excited to share this with you," Zuckerberg said.
