Free Wi-Fi Is Going to Available In Shimla From June 1 to 7, Enjoy It
Now you can log in to a hotspot Wi-Fi while strolling in the historic Ridge, the most famous promenade in Shimla. The Shimla Municipal Corporation, as a pilot project, on Sunday launched this service for residents and tourists, Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar told IANS.
The facility, which can be accessed from the scandal about the Christ Anglican Church, will be available until June 7, he said.
To use the service, people have to register their mobile numbers, and a password will be sent. Installation can be used by each user for two hours every day and the speed would be 1 Mbps data storage 7 GB.
The service Wi-Fi covers parts of the Mall Road, which once was a 'British only' street for strolling. Seven routers (access points) have been installed to provide Wi-Fi and range each router would be approximately 150 meters.
Users to provide feedback on the installation to the page of Shimla Municipal Corporation of Facebook is also requested. The state capital is still chock-a-block with tourists, especially during peak tourist season - from May to June and November to January.
According to representatives of the tourism industry, Shimla gets 20,000 to 30,000 visitors on average each weekend during peak season.
